I haven't seen this behavior so I don't know what might be causing it.  
You might try going to the Main Menu/Setup/General/Appearance and switch 
the Maps settings. settings.  Also, please keep in mind that 
Uninstalling a Windows program usually leaves behind some files.   After 
uninstalling Nova, you should delete its folder entirely if you intend 
to reinstall.
